My first post will be bit unusual. I just finished the most wonderful holiday ever and I have to recommend to you places I have been to in last 2 weeks.

But let's start from the begging. This was a kind of self planned trip. We bought tickets and booked hotels through Marcin, who writes a travel blog but also helps organizing travels. He also advised on some stuff we could do or visit (I am providing all the contact details to him at the end of this post).

At first, our plan was to go crazy and go 2 weeks to Maldivas. But Marcin has convinced us to go 1 week to the near by located Sri Lanka and then 1 week on Maldivas. We agreed. And to be honest it was the best decision.

Sri Lanka is a wonderful, colorful country with such an amazing people and culture. I was so very surprised in a positive way. I really fell in love with this country and it's habitants and what's nice, it also turned out to be a kind of spiritual journey for me. I highely recommend it. We have traveled a lot around the country (Bodo was driving!!!). We have seen beaches and cities on a south. We were on 2 safaris (Dewalawa and Yale) in National Parks. Visited the highest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. Went to the tea factories and seen tea pickers and waterfalls in the middle of the island. Climbed the opposite mountain to Sigirya which was very challenging but views and feeling were definitely worth it. I am adding some pictures. But really, they do not show how it is in reality. You have to see and feel it yourself.

When it comes to our latter destination- Maldivas, it is wonderful. Views are amazing. Water is really blue, sand is white and there are palm trees everywhere. We were staying in the Filhalhohi Island resort on the southern Male. And it is really a small island and everything is very nice. But Marcin was right. 2 weeks there would be too much. Instead we rested after driving through Sri Lanka. Played some table tennis, volleyball, billiard, did some snorkeling. Have seen mantas, sharks, dolphins and other fishes we have only seen in TV to date. Great, really great relax. It's a pitty it had to end. But that's how it is and we will have to start planning our next journey.

Cheers

Gosia
